The Ryan E. Bishop Outdoor Leadership Fund of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation

The Ryan E. Bishop Outdoor Leadership Fund of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation was established to keep Ryan’s spirit alive by giving to programs that make it possible for others to discover, connect with and grow respect for the natural world, as well as building self-confidence and sharing these experiences.

In the fall of 2011, Kismet Rock Foundation in North Conway, New Hampshire, was selected by the Bishops as the first recipient of the Ryan E. Bishop Outdoor Leadership Fund. Kismet, a four-year program, helps economically disadvantaged children grow physically, emotionally, and intellectually through technical rock climbing and a family-like atmosphere in the Kismet house. In the summer of 2012, four New Hampshire children had life-changing experiences at Kismet, thanks to the Ryan E. Bishop Outdoor Leadership Fund and a generous 10 percent matching grant from NHCF. Proving worthy of carrying Ryan’s legacy forward, Kismet was chosen again in the fall of 2012 as the fund recipient, allowing these young people to continue their growth through outdoor experiences.
